Carol Diamond Obituary
Carol "Candy" Diamond
Lebanon, NH - Carol (Candy) Ann (English) Diamond, loving and devoted wife, mother of eight, grandmother of twelve and great grandmother of six, passed away on October 22, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born June 24, 1938, in Winthrop, MA., to Arthur and Katherine English, the second of three children.
She grew up in Antrim and Keene, N.H, and attended Antrim and Keene High School, as well as Northfield School for Girls. She graduated from Keene High School in 1955. Following high school, she first attended The Chandler School for Women in Boston, MA, and later at age 45, enrolled and attended The University of Vermont in Burlington, VT. At UVM, she was a Dean's List Student for three years.
In 1956, she married Richard W. Robinson, II and to that marriage six children were born, Marcia, Deborah, Richard W., III, Glenn, Steven, and Scott. Candy had wanted eight children but that would have to wait until 1976 when, celebrating a love that could not be denied and lasted a lifetime, she married M. Jerome "Jerry" Diamond and became stepmother to Joshua and Seth.
Candy and Jerry moved to Montpelier, raised their family there until 2020, and at that time moved to Lebanon, NH. Through the years in Montpelier, Candy served on the Boards of Parents and Teachers for Social Responsibility, Home Share VT, Peoples Health and Wellness Clinic, Lost Nation Theatre, Woodbury College, Vermont Ethics Network, and the Vermont State Medical Practice Board.
For eight years, she wintered in South Palm Beach and Boca Raton, FL, and for many more years, summered at Dog Pond at the family camp in Woodbury, VT. She loved Dog Pond, as did all the children and grandchildren.
In the years before her knees gave out, she loved skiing. But after giving up skiing, with the help of Andy Christensen of East Montpelier, she learned the skill of dowsing, became a member of the American Society of Dowsers, and eventually learned how to perform energy healing for hundreds of persons in need. When a former state representative from Montpelier was going through chemotherapy, Andy and Candy would give her energy to replace what had been lost from the treatments. From that demonstrated need, they next founded the Kellogg Library Healing Group to teach others from around the state how to perform the energy healing technique. The hope was that people from around the state would learn and then go back to their home communities and teach others. All kinds of people came to learn, including doctors and nurses, and anyone needing help received it. The group lasted over 25 years.
Candy was predeceased by her parents, and her two brothers, Donald English and Richard English. She is survived by her husband of more than 47 years, Jerry Diamond, and her eight children: Marcia Robinson of Pittsford, VT, Deborah Robinson of Lexington, KY, Richard Robinson (Melissa) of Lebanon, NH, Glenn Robinson of Newport, VT, Steven Robinson of Waterbury, VT, Scott Robinson (Jennifer) of Dayton, OH, Joshua Diamond (Catharine) of Williston, VT, and Seth Diamond (Brooke) of Jasper, AL.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Cosinuke (Alexis), Cassidy Lawrence (Nate); Tiller, Clancy Robinson; Tucker, Halle Robinson; Naomi, Ari Diamond; Hannah, Zachary Diamond; Declan and Zeke Cornet; and by her great grandchildren, Iris, Maddox, Miller Cosinuke; Kennedy and Wynslet Scribner, and Richard Lawrence.
Guare & Sons Funeral Home of Montpelier, VT, will be handling all arrangements. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 18th, at 10:30 am at the Meriden Congregational Church in Meriden, NH, followed by a reception. Her internment, for family only, will be that afternoon in the Beth Jacob section of the Green Mount Cemetery in Montpelier, VT. The family would like to thank everyone from Bayada Hospice and Cornerstone Care of New England for Candy's end of life care.
