MECHANICSBURG – William C. Hunter (better known as "Chomp" or "Bill"), 84, passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, in his home.
Chomp was born Nov. 21, 1939 to the late Robert J. and Teresa Hunter of Mechanicsburg and was a 1958 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School.
Chomp was a unique individual who led a most interesting life. He enjoyed sports cars and owned a variety of motor vehicles throughout the years.
Chomp had the privilege of serving as an aide, driver and farm manager for William B. Saxbe during Saxbe's tenure as U.S. Senator from Ohio, U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Ambassador to India.
Chomp had a love of travel and during his time with Saxbe, and later on his own, he traveled around the globe three times. Not knowing a stranger, his greatest joy was wandering "off the beaten path" to meet local residents especially in India, France and China. He also visited, lived in and/or worked in each of the 50 U.S. states in a wide variety of jobs.
Chomp retired following 27 years as a Field Agent for Larimer and Larimer, Attorneys at Law, Columbus, Ohio.
Chomp is survived by his daughter, Holly Hunter Jones; granddaughter Courtney Maria Christine Hunter Jones; and great-grandchildren Hayden Hunter Razzaghi and Beau Anthony Razzaghi all of Homosassa, Fla.; step-sisters Racille (Griswold) Smith (James) of Urbana and Margaret Ann (Griswold, Falkenstine) Weinbroer (Dave) of Lexington, Ky.; sister-in-law, Nina Hunter; three nieces and one nephew of Wilmington, Ohio; step-nephews Bart Smith (Karen) of Urbana and Jimmy Falkenstine (Karen) of Louisville, Ky.; step-nieces Stacey Smith of Springfield and Angela (Falkenstine) Jackson (Tony) of Lexington, Ky.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Za Min Bo; Promedica Hospice nurse Renee and Social Worker Elaine; and caregiver Mellisa Bostick. Each of you granted Chomp the ability to die in the home he built, which was his dying wish.
