GALION – Barbara "Barb" Anne Mitchem, 54 of Galion, Ohio, formerly of North Lewisburg, passed away on Nov. 12, 2023, in Mount Carmel East, Columbus, Ohio.
She was born on April 19, 1969 in London, Ohio, to the late Lacy Brown and Phyllis Hook (Elkins). After graduating from Triad High School in 1988, Barbara spent 20-plus years working as an LPN, primarily at Spring Meadows in Fountain Park. She took great pride in her work and caring for her patients. Barbara loved cooking and baking, she was always making amazing food and treats. She loved spending time with her family, especially her amazing grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her fiancé Dustin Woodworth; daughter, Sarah (Kyle) Pierce; son, Andy (Nicky) Mitchem; sister, Teresa Crabtree; brother, Paul Combs; grandchildren, Kylie, Caleb, Caitlin, Brody and Rory Pierce, and John Wardlaw; aunt, Michelle Hunter; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as special friends, Deb and Diane.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Timothy Combs; and uncle, Dave Hunter.
Arrangements have been entrusted to VERNON FUNERAL HOMES, Urbana, Ohio.

To the family of Barb Mitchem, I am sending you deepest condolences a d thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with her at Eaglewood Nursing home and she was a wonderful nurse who loved her residents and those that she worked with. Barb was a joy to work with and she was soooo funny. I always knew that when I worked with her it was going to be a good night. Again, my prayers are with you all.

So sorry to hear about Barb. She helped take care of my mother in 2009. Such a big help with a big heart. My mom enjoyed having her there to help. May God touch you all at this time of sadness. Remember the good times.
