William Malik Obituary

William A. Malik, 90, of West Newton, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at Independence Health in Greensburg, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 28, 1933, in Wendel, son of the late Frank J. and Frances (Chesky) Malik. He graduated from the former Sewickley Township High School, Class of 1951, where he played football, basketball and baseball, as well as being involved in the agriculture education program. After graduation, he was on the American Legion baseball team and tried out for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Brooklyn Dodgers. William worked as a school bus driver for 20-plus years and especially enjoyed working additional shifts transporting students to away games. He then worked and retired from Yough School District as a transportation supervisor after 15 years of service, all while taking care of the family dairy farm with his loving wife and being active with his children. He was a very hard worker and was an active 4H leader and County Fair Board member. William was an active 60-plus year member of Norwin Church of the Nazarene in Circleville. He traveled to more than 38 countries with his wife and had the privilege of shaking the Queen of England's hand. He was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Chuck, Frank and Adam Malik; and sister, Frances Malik. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Iona G. (Albright) Malik, of West Newton; sons, Ronald W. (Pat) Malik, of Illinois, and Roy A. Malik, of West Newton; daughter, Nancy L. (Scott) Metzger, of South Park, Pa.; grandchildren, Caleb (Alex) Malik and Jacob Malik; and great-grandchild, Parker. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison, PA 15663, Ronald A. Rich Jr., supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. A private interment will take place at Madison Union Cemetery in Madison.
