Harry Carson Obituary

Harry M. "Nook" Carson Jr., 84, of West Deer Township, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at his home. He was born July 25, 1939, in Pittsburgh, to the late Harry M. and Jane E. (Kroh) Carson Sr. Harry grew up in Oakmont, graduating from Oakmont High School in 1957. Harry went to work for Gulf Research and Development Company, Harmar, in the lab as a technician, working for them for more than 25 years. After retirement, he went to work as a bus driver for the Fox Chapel School District. Harry was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Dorseyville. He loved playing golf and bowling, bowling at Nesbits and Deer Lakes Bowl for more than 60 years, and golfing in various golf leagues for more than 60 years. He also was a Steelers football fan. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Eleanor "Elly" M. (McClintock) Carson; his children, Harry L. "Kit" Carson, of Saxonburg, Cindy L. (Kevin) McKinney, of West Deer, and Scott A. (Cathy) Carson, of Renfrew; grandchildren, Bryan McKinney, of West Deer, Joshua (Melinda) Carson, of Butler, Brandon (Caiti) Carson, of Lower Burrell, Lucas (Jenn) Carson, of Banner Elk, N.C., Stephen (Sydney) Carson, of Renfrew, and Melissa Potter, of West Deer; great-grandchildren, Makaylah, Gentry, Chance, Gavin and Elizabeth; his brothers, Jack (Judy) Carson, of Deltona, Fla., and Jeffrey (Eva) Carson, of Denmark; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane "Chicky" Carson. At Nook's request, all viewing and service are private. A celebration of his life will be held in the near future. Arrangements were entrusted to the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township.
