James St.Gelais Obituary
MALTA - James Leo St.Gelais, 74, died peacefully with his wife by his side on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Brigham Women's Hospital in Boston after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born in Cohoes on May 11, 1949, and was the son of the late Donald and Shirley St.Gelais. Jim was a skilled auto mechanic, and he enjoyed helping friends and family with his expertise. He loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his cousins, his wife, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ann (Geren) St.Gelais; his son, Jay (Jodi) St.Gelais, and their children, Quinn, Eliza, and Ameilia; his daughter, Danielle (Steven) Yeager, and their children Liam and Lyla; his sister, Patricia (Fran) Benanati, as well as his beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his sister, Donna Smith; and his brothers, Lee and Donald St.Gelais.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to all the nurses and staff at Brigham Women's Hospital's ICU.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, October 26, from 5-7 p.m. at Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main St., Schaghticoke. A graveside service will be held in the Millertown Cemetery, Johnsonville at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 30.

Ann and family.........we are so very sorry to read of Jim's passing...I haven't seen him in many years but have great memories of him in our youth with sports......He was a great guy and good friend back in the day........our thoughts and prayers are with you all............
