Alex Townsend Obituary

Townsend, Alexander
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - Our beloved Alex died Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Boston of multiple organ failure. He was 35.
Born in Saginaw, Michigan on April 3, 1988, he is survived by his mother, Debra Townsend; stepfather, Dan O'Sullivan; and his father, Mark Townsend; stepmother, Anne Marie Townsend; brother, Daniel Townsend; sister, Quinn O'Sullivan; and stepbrothers, Christopher, Mark and Josh Pritchard. He was an amazing son and brother.
Alex grew up in Loudonville and was a 2006 graduate of Shaker High School. He graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University in Boston where he had received a full presidential scholarship. He played soccer as a goalie at Shaker and continued to play in college and his later years, including a semi-pro Gaelic football team. He enjoyed other sports as well and received his certification in scuba diving during a college semester in Australia. He was a passionate fan and follower of every Boston team and World Cup soccer.
He loved travel, especially as seen through the world of hospitality, for which he developed a keen knowledge. He lovingly curated vacations and fine dining for anyone who asked. He loved music and movies and his many dear friends in Boston and beyond. He had two cats that he doted on. He doted on everyone.
Alex was so bright and outgoing, a scholar, an athlete, a jokester, and a charmer. Above all, he was a giver and a listener. Conversations with him were deep and nuanced and earned his full attention. He offered sage and thoughtful advice and he was generous to a fault. He was adored by his parents and siblings and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family is planning a celebration of his life at a later date so that his friends and family can make plans to attend. More information will be forthcoming.

It has been some time since we have connected with Alex but we have some of the best memories with him. He is such a huge loss. He was an integral part of some of our early years in Boston and of the mayo football team for a time. He was the best food connoisseur and a great listener. It meant a lot to us that he travelled to Ireland for our wedding back in 2014. He truly is a huge loss to this world. Thinking of all his family during this difficult time. He talked so fondly of you all especially his little sister who he adored. Sean & Mags Clifford
