Elizabeth Hallman Obituary

Elizabeth Ann (Clark) Hallman died October 16, 2023, at the age of 91. The daughter of Charles Kingsley Clark and Eileen (Marshall) Clark, "Bette Ann" was born on February 18, 1932, in Tarrytown, New York. She grew up in Audubon, PA, graduating from East Norriton School, East Norriton Jr. High, and Norristown High School (class of 1950). Part of an accelerated program, she graduated from West Chester State Teachers College with honors in 1953 and began her teaching career. She completed her master's degree in remedial reading (Cum Laude) in 1978. She married James M. Hallman in 1956 and lived on Miami Rd. in West Norriton. A founding member of Visitation B.V.M. parish, she became Secretary of the Women's Guild and Treasurer of the Sodality of Our Lady. She moved to Jefferson Avenue in East Norriton in 1972, becoming a member of St. Titus Parish. A resident of Shannondell at Valley Forge since 2007, she became a member of Saint Teresa of Avila Parish, remarking that she had come full circle, living back in Audubon. Bette Ann taught at Blue Bell Elementary and Burnside Elementary, and was a substitute teacher in the Norristown, Lower Providence, and Audubon School Districts. She taught remedial reading and math for 25 years through the State Intermediate Unit, teaching students at Visitation, St. Titus, and St. Helena's Schools, as well as at Penn Square Christian Academy. She loved giving the hundreds of children she taught the extra attention they needed to read and gain math skills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James M. Hallman, and her sister Beatrice Stanley. She is survived by her sons James (Ann); William (Connie); Thomas (Linda); and Steven (Bonnie); daughter Mary Elizabeth (Jeffrey Weiand); grandchildren William, Stewart, Eileen, and Haley; and sister Mary Jane Moyer (Robert). Interment will be held 2pm Friday, November 3rd at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Norristown, followed by a gathering of family and friends from 4:30 to 6:30 in the Ashcroft Card Room at Shannondell. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Patrician Society. https://www.patriciansociety.org/

Aunt Bette Ann was a lovely lady, a role model for any teacher, and a kind and gracious member of our family. She raised some great children, and she continued to be interested in all of us. Keeping all in the Light.
