Robert Magill Obituary

MAGILL, Robert "Bob" Edward, a.k.a. Pop Pop, 80, of Powhatan, VA, departed this life on September 22, 2023. Bob Magill graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1961 where he was an outstanding athlete in football, baseball, and basketball. He earned All Central Region First Team and Honorable Mention All State in football his senior year. In an American Legion baseball playoff game in 1961 he hit two home runs over the fence at Parker Field (The Diamond). Bob graduated from Emory and Henry College in 1965, where again he was an outstanding football and baseball player. In 1977, he was inducted into the Emory and Henry Football Hall of Fame. After earning his master's degree at the University of Tennessee, Bob began his career in education as a teacher and coach in Danville, where he met the love of his life, Suzi. They were married for over 50 years and raised four children. Bob and Suzi later moved to Chesterfield County, where he served as football coach for Manchester High School. After that, Bob went into business for several years with his best friend, Ike Fogel, in a job that allowed him to live in other states and to travel internationally. He later moved back to the Richmond area to complete his career in education. He loved sitting on his private, peaceful front porch where he enjoyed watching the wildlife that he kept properly fed. Especially the Hummingbirds, Birds and Squirrels. He dearly missed his wife Suzi who passed away five years ago. His memory lives on in the hearts of his loved ones. He is survived by his brothers and their spouses M. Kenneth Magill and Cheri Magill; John H. Magill and Marty Magill; his children and their spouses, Robert "Alex" Magill, Julie Magill, Andrea Burton, David Burton, Bridget Ditucci, Ralph Ditucci, George "Brian" Magill, Ana Magill; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. His remains are in the care of his loving children and his life will be celebrated in a ceremony at his home on November 4, 2023.
