Priscilla Poe Obituary

POE, Priscilla Ann, 76, passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lt. Colonel James Edward Poe (USA) and Elizabeth Bamford Poe as well as her beloved twin sister, Pamela Ellery Poe. Born in Marion, Virginia, Priscilla moved often with her family during childhood, living in Georgia, Japan, Kansas, Maryland, Virginia, Germany, and Pennsylvania. As a child and adolescent, she was joyful, artistic, curious, and athletic at a time when girls and women had fewer opportunities. She graduated from George Washington University and lived in Washington, D.C for a number of years. She worked in a variety of administrative jobs and established and ran one of the first woman-owned painting companies in DC. She later resided in Bangor, Maine and eventually returned to Virginia Beach, VA. to assist in caring for family members. In the mid-90's, Priscilla moved to the Richmond area with her sister, Pam, to join her other siblings. She began a long career as a Housekeeper with Henrico Doctors Hospital. Priscilla was a humble, kind, intelligent, and caring person whose Christian faith was very important to her. She always sought to live her life based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. She generously donated to faith-based charities throughout her life despite a modest income. Shy by nature, she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her brother, Kyle, and a few friends. She was extremely close to her twin sister, Pam, and acutely felt her loss in 2014. Facing many health challenges in the last few years of her life, she still enjoyed going out to eat with family, regular visits, and daily phone calls. Priscilla is survived by her siblings, Kyle Poe and Lisa Poe, family Tigran Iskanian, Shannon O'Rourke, and son, Raffi, Vaughn Iskanian and Natalie Lovenburg and son, Sebastian as well as many beloved cousins and friends.

A celebration and memorial of Priscilla's life will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Glen Allen, 11105 Cauthorne Road, Glen Allen, VA. 2305 at 11 a.m. on November 18, 2023. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).
