Jean Jones Obituary

JONES, Jean Elaine Green, of Richmond, passed away on November 4, 2023, at 96 years of age, from Dementia. Jean, born on September 29, 1927, grew up in South Richmond and attended John Marshall High School. She worked for C & P Telephone Company during World War II, East Coast Freight Lines, and the Department of Finance for Richmond Public Schools. Jean was a devoted mother to her family, which included her "four boys." She was a member of Ginter Park Baptist Church, where she worked with the bed babies for many years. She was also a member of the NASCAR Racing Wives Auxiliary for many years. Jean loved reading and could finish several books a week. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Henry. She was preceded in death by her hunband of 63 years, Henry C. "Dusty" Jones, Jr. Jean is survived by her boys, Timothy S. Jones (Peggy), Bruce W. Jones (Johna), Russell C. Jones and Christopher S. Jones; three grandchildren, Jason, Chris and Michelle; and a nephew, Walker W. Smith, Jr. (Tammie Lynne) of Great Falls, Montana.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Avenue. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 9, in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Richmond SPCA.
