Edward Myers Obituary

MYERS, Edward "Ed" James, 71, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Gloria M. Myers of Richmond, Va; his son, Matthew Myers of Fairfax, Va; his daughter, Laura Myers of Sydney, Australia; and brothers Frank, Jerry, Tom, Henry, Will and Mike Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecilia and Norman Myers, and brother John Myers.

Ed grew up in Liberty, NY, and graduated from Clarkson University with a BSME. He had a long career as an engineer with Reynolds Aluminum Company and ExxonMobil. Working at Reynolds took him and Gloria from Massena, NY, to Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan, and finally Richmond, VA, in 1984. He began working for ExxonMobil in 2001 before retiring in May 2018.

Ed was a longtime member of the by Chesterfield Fire & EMS, which he joined in 1987, and later served as district chief of the Bon Air Volunteer Fire Department. His impact on the CFEMS is felt through the firefighters and EMS he worked with throughout the years, always encouraging those around him to meet the highest standards. Ed also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

In Ed's free time, he loved spending time with family, traveling around the U.S. and abroad with Gloria, and pursuing his lifelong passion for all things cars and fire trucks.
