DAVID MENARY IV

December 26, 1997 - November 15, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Menary IV born December 26, 1997, in Marin County, CA to parents Jo and David Menary III. The ultimate Christmas blessing, David went on to fill the lives of those around him with profound joy, sincerity, and reflection. He was a dear son, brother, friend, teammate, and child of God. The mischief, jokes and strong bonds David shared with his siblings growing up will live on as beautiful and lighthearted memories. In high school and college, David found belonging, flow state and joy spending time with friends and excelling on the basketball court at Nevada Union High School and University of Redlands. He was loved and supported from coast-to-coast.

David braved depression and autism, which severely impacted his outlook and quality of life. However, David never lost his unwavering courage and abiding perseverance. He was authentic with those close to him in the last few years, sharing parts of his struggle, not for sympathy and attention, but for selfless education and awareness.

'D' was a mindful and reflective presence to those around him, always encouraging others to put the person first and their actions second, preserving the goodness of humanity whenever possible. David especially led the latter part of his life as an admirable warrior - night after night, day after day opting for things, people and decisions that he knew would nurture his wellbeing. Ice baths, affirmations, reading, hot yoga, church, journaling, and being in nature were just some of the things he chose.

With the Host of Heaven saying, Come as you are, on November 15, David found what felt impossible earth-side: eternal peace and complete rest. He was greeted in Heaven by his beloved grandparents Nancy Menary and Judge David Menary Jr. David's impact will continue to fill the lives of those he loved, urging them to keep sincerity, intention and tenderness in their hearts.

David is survived by his parents Dave and Jo, siblings Jen (and brother-in-law John), Gary and Faith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in the form of donations to ANEW Day in Grass Valley, CA and Westonwood Ranch in Freeport, FL. ANEW Day, a counseling and training center, offers free counseling and affordable therapy for individuals, couples and families and training opportunities for therapists. Westonwood Ranch is a 501c non profit organization whose mission is to support and create opportunities for personal growth for individuals affected by Autism and other related Developmental Disabilities.

Menary Family -

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. David, along side Christian Curry were my roommates freshman year at the University of Redlands. David was the most pure, authentic, and selfless people I have ever met. He was so fun to be around - always finding joy in the little things in life, and developed a special bond with everyone that he ever crossed paths with. He was a positive light to be around and always supported everyone in their endeavors. I am going to miss David incredibly and hope you all are able to find peace in knowing that he was a shining light in everything he did and carried an authenticity and humbleness that is one of a kind.

My condolences to the Menary family. David, you made everyone around you a better person.

Dear Dave, Jo, and family,
Marcia and I are deeply saddened by the passing of your beloved son David. Over the years, we have looked forward to your Christmas greetings and loving family photos. I always enjoyed listening to a proud father tell me about his children´s accomplishments over the year. At the core, there was always love...a deep abiding love for each other.

In watching the moving celebration of his life, it´s evident your son David was a friend, a confidant, a support, and a hero to so many. He will live on in your hearts and in the hearts and lives of all to whom he meant so much. With love, Frank and Marcia.

We're in absolute shock to hear about David's passing. We're so so sorry for your heartbreak. It's our biggest fear to lose one of our boys. We can't believe that your beautiful, supportive, loving, and tight-knit family is experiencing this loss. I have so many fond memories of David. He was mature beyond his years and was always respectful. When Nick and Gary were being rascals together, David never acted like they were a nuisance. It goes back to his love of family and his kindness. Sending you all our love and prayers.

Recalling happier times...Summers when David and cousin Garrett Rice (born same year) enjoyed just being boys. I especially enjoyed those when BWD would bring both David and Gary to Las Vegas for AAU Basketball Tournaments and the NBA Summer League as participants--and, of course, FUN on the Rice Lazy River. Innocent times to cherish forevermore. - Sending Love & Light, Tammy

To the Family
I met David Menary IV on a bright sunny day as he brought Mr. Jake the family Dog to his father´s and my work place at the outdoors at the Sandestin Raven Golf Resort.
There are many ways to for men to observe bonds, love, humanity and character. Through the adoring demeanor of animals and their presence with family. I cannot express great knowledge of David Menary IV but through Kindness of Heart and the admiration of his father and Mr. Jake I believe I can attest to those qualities both in those moments and what I believe in me was to brighten the world ahead.
His father passed on all the good things to his son.

David was a fellow bulldog, classmate, and friend to many. He had a sweet disposition and always greeted others with a kind and quiet strength. I am grateful to have shared part of my college experience knowing David, and seeing his impact on the basketball court and through student life. I would like to offer my condolences and prayers to David´s family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. May David rest peacefully with his family in Heaven and be remembered for his bravery, perseverance, and beautiful heart.
