DAWSON, Marguerite Mastry St. Petersburg native, pioneering business woman, loving mother, women's rights champion and enthusiastic supporter of civic and humanitarian endeavors, passed away August 3, 2024 at age 101. Marguerite Amelia Mastry was born March 8, 1923, the ninth of 10 children. Parents, John and Asma, emigrated from Lebanon. She graduated St. Petersburg High in 1940. She founded Marguerite Dawson Insurance, Inc. During those years, she was a past president of Mid-Day Business and Professional Women's Club, Women's Service League and Insurance Women of St. Petersburg. She was also very involved with the Young Women's Residence, the Resurrection House, and many others. An avid Tampa Bay Ray fan, Marguerite was honored to threw out the first pitch and even started the game with "Play ball!" She was also a leader, a disciple and a faithful steward of Cathedral Church of St. Peter where she served on the board of directors. Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Leena St. Michael; her son, James Dawson Jr., his wife, Rachel and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, James Dawson. A funeral and celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Cathedral Church of St. Peter at 2 pm.

To The Bereaved Family,
I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Marguerite while attending a St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts event back in the 1980s. I was a new resident to the city of St. Petersburg and living in a downtown Condominium.
She was a delightful and very considerate lady and an excellent story teller.

I will always remember going to the RAYS games with the group Marguerite organized..great FAN. Also a Birthday Club group that met monthly at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. May she rest in Peace.
