MARC SIMMONS Obituary

I remember along with Kit Henderson that we made adobes for Marc's home while he was finishing school at UNM. Perhaps in 1972?

Caballero and fellow Knight of Isabel la Catolica Marc, was one who sought to teach in very interesting presentations. He was not afraid to discuss topics and said "History is not for sissies and one can not mine the past. every culture whiled the sword or ax and can not claim the high groud" He treated history with respect and honestly. We consider Marc one of the great giants who left New Mexico richer for his research and fair history books. He did not have an agenda playing to any group, he was a man who sought to be fair. Marc made his own personal history as one in a million. His columns are missed as he is dusty in the trail of stars. We feel blessed to have visited him at his home and introduced our Grandson Alex to his children books. Our loss Heavens Gain. SINCERELY John and Conchita Lucero

Being a lover of New Mexico history I enjoyed reading Mr Simmons books and the weekly articles in the Santa Fe New Mexican. His life and writing was a blessing to the state he called home. May he rest in peace. Godspeed Marc Simmons and thank you.
