Myra W. Warren

Conway, MA - Myra W. Warren, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 9, 2023 surrounded by her five loving daughters. She was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on January 26, 1936, the youngest of five children to the late Myron and Mary Jane (Dalpe) Wotton.

Myra was educated in Quincy at the Woodward School for Girls and continued her education at Children's Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, receiving her degree in nursing in 1954. She had a long career as a registered nurse with a passion for psychiatric nursing while supporting and understanding people for who they were. For the past 23 years, Myra has made her home in Conway with her daughter Elizabeth and her husband Kevin. Her greatest love was her family and being a dear mom to her five daughters, a grandmother to eleven grandchildren, and great-grandmother to four great grandbabies. Myra was her family's Super Fan in every way. She never missed an opportunity to attend her grandchildren's many sporting events and activities and cheer loudly from the sidelines. Myra was a talented knitter, creating many special keepsakes for her daughters and grandchildren. She loved a good book, a day at the beach and a bag of candy. Myra epitomized the quote by Maya Angelou "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." She made all who knew her feel loved and appreciated.

Myra is survived by her five daughters who are eternally grateful to their exceptional Mother; Kimberly Drake and her husband Clark of Sunderland; Elizabeth Downie and her husband Kevin of Conway; Deborah Matuszko and her husband Michael of South Deerfield; Amy Hoey and her husband Thomas of Groton; and Hilary Whitlock and her husband Henry of Amherst; eleven grandchildren Meghan, Shea and Keegan Downie; Courtney and Ashley Drake; Morgan and Brooke Matuszko; Aidan and Abigail Hoey; Jackson and Madison Whitlock; and four great-grandchildren Clark, Gwydion, Ada and Cameron. Myra was predeceased by her four siblings Gloria Wheble, Jane Lynch, Philip Wotton and Robert Wotton, as well as her grandson William Hunter Whitlock.

A funeral mass will be celebrated for Myra on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Brigid's Catholic Church in Amherst, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Myra's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF.

Myra was the best boss one could have at Community Support Services in Northampton MA back in the 1990's. She was fair but firm with a wonderful sense of humor. When she retired, she left a hole in the staff that never got refilled. I miss you Myra.

Myra was such a wonderful psychiatric nurse who I had the pleasure of working with collaboratively for many years within the DMH system. Her warmth, smile, and sense of humor sustained many who she worked with and those whom she provided care. She was very perceptive regarding the care needed and didn't hesitate to advocate to have that care provided.
May her name be a blessing. May she rest in peace.
