Stephen E. Price, 71, of Aledo, died Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery. There is no visitation, but a celebration of life will be held later in July.
Memorials may be made to the Mercer County VFW.
Stephen Eugene was born on August 8, 1952, in Aledo, IL, to Paul E. and Mary E. (Hofer) Price. He graduated from Aledo High School in 1970 and worked on the family farm before joining Dellitt Ag & Crop Production Services. Steve retired as a concrete finisher from Union #18 after working for 3-D Concrete.
Steve enjoyed the outdoors and shared his love of hunting and fishing with his grandsons. He would pass on the trophy, so they could claim one. Steve also spent many nights watching his grandchildren's ball games. He was the proud owner of his grandfather's mail truck, a 1948 Dodge Power Wagon. Steve was a hardworking man that had a great sense of humor, a laugh known to all and often enjoyed a Busch Light with family and friends.
Steve's survivors include his children: Shellie Price and Eric Skinner and Julie Young all of Aledo, and Evan and Tricia Price of Naples, Italy; his mother, Mary Price of Aledo; grandchildren: Andrew and Erin Smith, Jake Saltzman, Emma Saltzman, Alex Young and Brook Allcock, Vance Young, and Brady, Kate and Georgia Price; great-grandchildren: Emmy, Addy, Lennox and Ronan; siblings: Gary and Donna Price of Reynolds; Duane and Candace Price of Aledo, Linda and Ken Hoffman of LeClaire, IA, Flint and Lisa Price of Aledo; and six nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, a niece, Heather Price and great-nephew, Ezra Ivey.
