Donna Yerger Obituary

Donna Marie Yerger, aged 65, of Crown Point, IN, departed from this earthly realm on November 18, 2023. She was born to Moses and Gladys (Ritchie) Stewart on March 23, 1958, in Dayton, OH. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She grew up in Gary, IN and graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1976. Donna truly embodied what it means to be a loving, caring, and thoughtful person towards others. She had a wonderful giving heart and found joy in serving God and those around her, especially her family and friends. She also loved using her voice to sing the praises of God and had become known through the years to be an excellent soloist and choir member. Donna found solace and strength in God and faithfully attended worship services since childhood, including membership at Logan Park Assembly of Christ, Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ, All Nations Worship Assembly, and Healing Streams Oasis Church over the years. She was known for her uplifting and encouraging spirit. She was happy to offer a word of encouragement, prayer, or scripture at anytime. Most of all, she believed in always giving God the glory and praise no matter the circumstances. She will always be remembered for her desire to impart God's love into others through her words and deeds. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved "sweetheart" and husband, Dennis Yerger, her "jewels", children Dawn (Adesanya) Ademokunwa, Dennis M.J. Yerger, David (Lakesha) Yerger, Domynic Yerger, and Deardra Yerger, her adoring grandchildren, Khailah Yerger, London Yerger, Darwin Rollins, Jr., Adenike Ademokunwa, Adonnis Rollins, and Adeleye Ademokunwa, and cherished siblings, Fremon Stewart, Kimberly Smith, Moses (Elida) Stewart, Paul Stewart, Lisa (Randy) Moore, Erika (Nathaniel) Egbon, Antaeus (Priscilla) Stewart, beloved niece/little sister Jutone (William) McNair, mother in law, Vanilla Golston, stepmother, Geraldine Stewart, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sheryl-Ann Stewart. Visitation, Friday, December 1, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Mt. I had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Donna at LCAR in Gary. She has such a compassionate heart for the individuals with developmental disabilities. She was so patient with them and loving. I never witnessed her complaining. We did activities together for the clients and I enjoyed EVERY moment. Her soft way of dealing with things have made a longing impression on my life. I remember one day we were going on a community outing with our clients and Mrs. Donna took her time in preparing everything for the trip in her own pace. Me on the other hand was rushing and felt she was moving too slow. Funny enough, she beat me to the site where we were going and I walked away with the lesson of Mrs Donna- "Slow and steady is the flow of wisdom". Rushing causes you to miss things.

Rest well Mrs. Donna. You deserve the harvest of love that you´ve poured into others for decades.

I am so sorry to hear of Donna's passing. I knew her from our Logan Park days all the way to Mt. Zion. She lead The Jesus Club for the children to keep them interested in praising God. My condolences to the entire family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless.

Donna was my dear friend. She started calling me her "little Sista" so I started calling her my "big Sista" her last words to me were very encouraging. I remember years ago, I had to take some new medicine and she told me to make sure I prayed over it so there will not be any side effects. I still do that till this day and never any side effects. I'm going to miss her laugh and conversation. My prayers, love , and heart felt condolences go out to Deacon Yerger and all of her precious children and grandchildren! I love you all and I will continue to pray that The Father in Heaven will comfort your hearts and minds! Peace and Blessings!
