I only ever knew her as Barbie. She was a little older than me and I was friends with Grady so she didn´t pay too much attention to us. We were the `other´ Ayers on Dormont Lane. There were five of us boys and we had the only other basketball court (affixed to the free standing garage) in the neighborhood and had many spirited games between the Ayers boys. We played football in their side yard. Barbie was the only girl between the two families. I imagine that made her feel left out in some natural ways, but I never remember it ever being a problem. She was very much a girl, and we were very much boys. Here´s a fun fact. Before her family moved to Dormont Ln. they lived for a time on the next street over called Oakmont. Both of our fathers were named Robert. We used to get each others mail all the time and I was often tasked to redeliver theirs or pick up ours. Then to make matters even more confusing, they moved onto Dormont 4 doors down from us! Well at least the delivery process was shortened, although increased in frequency! We used to get calls for Barbie or her mother `Tootsie´ all the time. Those were fun days! I remember Barbie being very popular, and having a great personality.

I have known Barbie since she was a baby, and remember when she was born. She was always a fun person, and on a even keel. She will be missed very much by all that know her.
