Marlo Wurth Obituary

MARLO M. WURTH
Born: January 31, 1950 in East St. Louis, IL
Died: March 10, 2022 in Lake in the Hills, IL
Marlo Wurth, 72, of Crystal Lake passed peacefully at Melody Living in Lake in The Hills on March 10th, 2022. Marlo grew up in the St. Louis area, where her family operated the Wurth Dairy in East St. Louis, IL. She graduated Notre Dame Academy in Belleville, IL in 1968 and attended Loyola University in New Orleans and then Chicago, where she earned her degree in 1972. She taught high school English and Latin in E. St. Louis in the mid 70's and remained an avid East Side Flyers and St. Louis Cardinals fan all her life.
She married Robert Donze in 1977 and they moved to Crystal Lake in 1978. Over the years, she taught cooking classes at Apron Strings store, worked as a travel agent and was a Master Gardener for the University of Illinois Extension office in McHenry. For years she volunteered for Turning Point of McHenry County and so many merchants she solicited for their annual fundraising auction knew her well because she was so passionate and relentless.
Her friends and relatives would describe her as very intelligent, outspoken, witty, sarcastic, fun-loving, creative and most of all, loving and caring……she would help anybody with anything. And so inquisitive, she would also talk to anybody she met about ANYTHING and had the incredible ability to retain and recall whatever she learned from them…..and apply it to everyday life. She was known for her gourmet cooking, beautiful flower gardens and love of animals.
Marlo loved travel and adventure, from backpacking the Rocky Mountains to canoeing the Boundary Waters, diving on the Great Barrier Reef and walking on the Great Wall. She traveled to about 20 foreign countries going along on Robert's business trips and made friends everywhere she went.
Marlo is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Robert Donze, sisters Mary Jane Kernan and Pamela Bauer, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Heet. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 27 from 1PM to 5PM at Hickory Hall, 406 W Woodstock St, Crystal Lake
