Marilyn Duvall Obituary

On Thursday, October 24, 2024, Marilyn Laine Duvall, loving wife, mother of three children and feisty grandmother of seven, passed away in Kenner at the age of 80. Born on November 4, 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana, she lived her entire life in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas. Marilyn was a lifelong competitive athlete - beginning at the playgrounds of New Orleans, continuing across the gyms, softball fields and bowling alleys throughout Orleans and Jefferson Parish and competing in multiple events in the Senior Olympics in her later years. Marilyn was the first ever female to win Athlete of the Year from the St. Roch Boosters in 1958 and she was a 1961 graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School. She is survived by her three children James Duvall Jr. (Jennifer), Renee Duvall Young (Greg) and Darrin Duvall (Shelley). She was immensely proud of her seven grandchildren Jessica, Julia, Jenna, Ava, Brady, Landon and Everett. Also survived by her loving little sister, Shari Laine Clement (Donald). She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 53 years, James Duvall. Also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Shelby, Allen Laine, James C. Laine and her sister Elmiral Laine Martin. Daughter of the late Gladys Doria and James C. Laine, Sr.
