MAHOMET - Martin Paul Colclasure passed away Saturday (Oct. 28, 2023).
He is survived by his children, Holley and Hayden; brother, John; and mother, Marsha Cassida.
He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Colclasure.
Those who knew Marty can attest that his character merits more praise than could ever fit into a book, let alone a few words. He grew up in Mahomet and attended Mahomet-Seymour High School. After graduating from Parkland, he served as an electrician at the University of Illinois. His impact on his town went deep, like the roots of a tree, and spread into the hearts of everyone he worked with. And Marty worked.
He was intentional, purposeful, compassionate, patient and kind. He honored his family, his mother and father, and he loved his children even more. He walked upright with the Lord and poured his generosity, kindness and humor into everyone around him.
He battled neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer for an incredible eight years. Marty remained strong and supportive of his family and those who knew him during this time. His sickness took his body, but it could never overtake him.
Saturday, the night of the 28th, at the end of his time on this Earth, he was surrounded by friends and family. The room was overflowing with love as a testament to the way Marty poured out himself into all of us.
Marty will be deeply missed.
On Nov. 11, there will be a visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by a celebration of life, at Mahomet Christian Church, 908 N. Lake of the Woods Road, Mahomet.
Memorial gifts in honor of Marty Colclasure may be given to Little Galilee Christian Camp and Retreat Center, 7539 Little Galilee Road, Clinton, IL 61727, or Mahomet Christian Church.
Arrangements are being managed by Sunset Funeral Home in Mahomet, and additional information is available at sunsetfuneralhome.com/location/mahomet-il/.

Lots of fond memories about Marty, here's just one of many: Marty was so proud of the home he & his dad built, not in a boastful way, just pleased that he & his dad built it ... together. He asked us to visit, so we went & he welcomed us & shared some of the stories that were involved this process of creating his home with his dad. We spent so many great times together during summers at the lake. Always it was clear, he was one of the truly good ones, not just another guy, he had that something special, plus integrity which is a rare quality. May his children always know that they were & will always be loved deeply by him; this kind of love is eternal. Prayers for comfort & peace for all those who love him ~ Jody & Scott Henderson

It´s hard to pick one memorable moment of Marty when there were countless. I was privileged to have Marty as a remarkable brother in law for 27 years. Marty had a love for life that poured onto others. He had a true gift for making peoples lives better by living in the moment and being joyful. I admire the work he did helping others less fortunate and in need. Our boys looked up to him as Uncle Marty was known to drop everything to spend time with them.

Being a classmate of Marty, my memories of him are from those early years. Marty was funny, kind, full of life and playfully mischievous. I spent time with him at church, his house and we went to Little Galilee together. He loved his family and friends. Like his Dad, Big John, he was warm, genuine and caring. He was a great person! Prayers and condolences to Marsha and little John!

So very sorry to hear this sad news. We new Marty from church plus through our kids. He was such a fun personality to be around. He always went out of his way to stop and talk with us wherever we saw him. Plus saw him often at the U of I when they crossed paths with their jobs. Blessings to the family.

Marty was one of the most generous and caring people I ever met, a true friend in every sense of the word. His presence will be missed beyond explanation. My heart goes out to his kids, and family.
