Sylvia Irene Alessandrini Williams died peacefully on December 7th, 2023; she was 96 years old. She was the widow of Professor L. Pearce Williams, which says it all! Their marriage of sixty-five years produced four cherished children: David Williams of Ithaca, NY; Alison Williams Lewin and spouse Jon Hughes of Brigantine, New Jersey; Adam Williams and his companion Lynne Frey of Camden, Maine; and Sarah Bonnefoi and spouse Marc of Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Sylvia was the grandmother to nine and great-grandmother to three.
Williams was predeceased by her sisters Lucille Fudger and Norma Cronyn, and her brother, Frank Alessandrini.
Sylvia was a dedicated gardener, long-term volunteer with the local girl scout organization, and active participant in her book groups.
Her life was enriched by her circle of close friends, all of whom gave her joy. She appreciated the many ways they touched her life; she treasured them all and wished to send them a fond farewell: "Please recollect those memories of me in your life. I feel blessed to have had you in mine. Adieu."
In lieu of flowers and in accordance with her favorite pastime, donations may be sent to the Tompkins County Library, 101 Green Street, Ithaca, NY 14850, or the Trumansburg Ulysses Philomathic Library, 74 East Main Street, Trumansburg, NY 14886.
Sylvia wanted a party to be thrown in her honor in the Ithaca/Trumansburg area; date, time, and exact location will be forthcoming.

Such fond memories of Sylvia as she worked with area Girl Scouts, serving as an amazing role model for the girls and the leaders. I recall her attending ceremonies at Camp Comstock and being as proud of each girl's achievements as if they were her own family. A lovely lady in every way. Grateful to have had her in my life.
