Mary Beth Adams, August 23, 1953– March 2, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Beth Adams (née Shay), 71, of Bryn Mawr, PA. Beth passed away on March 2, 2025, from heart/lung failure.
Born and raised in Upper Darby, PA, Beth was a dedicated nurse who devoted her life to caring for and educating others. After completing high school at the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur she graduated from Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing and later went on to earn her Bachelor's degree from Widener University, followed by a Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Her passion for helping others led her to a rewarding career as a labor and delivery nurse, nurse educator, and later as an OB-GYN nurse practitioner, where she touched the lives of countless patients with her skill, compassion, and warmth.
Beth was more than a dedicated professional. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Known for her tenacity, sense of humor, and boundless love, she had a unique way of making everyone around her feel special and valued. Her kindness and dedication to her family and friends were evident in everything she did.
In addition to her family and career, Beth's strength in the face of adversity, particularly with Marfan's syndrome, was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her spirit and resilience will continue to serve as a beacon for those who loved her.
Beth is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Herbert D. Adams; her children, Erica Adams and H. Daniel Adams Jr.; her siblings, Kathleen Shay, Thomas Shay (Cindy Shay), and Gerald Shay; her sister-in-law Carol Lynch (Michael Lynch); six nephews; five great nieces and nephews; and many friends. She is predeceased by her indomitable mother Mary D Shay; brother-in-law Frederick W. Dreher and sister-in-law Margaret Shay.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Chadwick & McKinney Funeral Home in Ardmore, PA, with visitation starting at 10:00AM, followed by a service at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to The Marfan Foundation, Port Washington NY 11050.
Beth will be deeply missed, but we are relived she is at peace now and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
