Mrs. Diane Abernathy, age 79, of Dallas, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
She was born on February 11, 1946 in Dallas, Georgia to Mr. Marvin Henry Dudley and Mrs. Floy T. Cochran. She worked as an Administrative assistant to the Sheriff at Paulding County Sheriffs Office for many years. For 59 years, she was married to the late James Stanford Abernathy, I. Diane was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Abernarthy.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Hope (Ty) Lawrence; son, Stan (Kim) Abernathy; grandchildren, Brittany Cook, Erica Foley, Tangela Ratteree, Lauren Black (Wayne), Colton Abernathy (Kirsten); great grandchildren, Alia Cross, Clayton Cross, Riley Cross, Raelyn Cook, Kennedi Cook, Colton Black, Paxton Foley, Hadley Foley, Harrison Black, Parker Black; brother, Tony Dudley (Charlene); nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Diane Abernathy will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Narroway Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Tibbitts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Merle Barron officiating.
Visitation for Mrs. Abernathy will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 12 P.M. until 2 P.M. All of the visitation will be held at Benson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Narroway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
