James Collins Obituary

MISSOULA - James Leroy Collins, age 5, of Missoula, Montana, passed away on February 18, 2025, due to injuries from a tragic car accident. Though his time with us was far too short, James' bright spirit and boundless love left an everlasting mark on everyone who knew him.
Born on January 6, 2020, James had blessed us with his joyfulness, laughter, love, and wonder. He loved life and every part of Mother Nature. He would take every chance he could to be outside, from playing with neighborhood kids to sitting on the porch with a neighbor next door to chat about the day. He was perfectly content.
James had a way with everyone he encountered through life that made even the smallest moments so very special. His giggles were contagious, his hugs unforgettable, and his love for life truly inspiring.
James will definitely always be deeply loved and dearly missed by his parents, Peter Collins and Coty Wilson; his brother, Cole Voorhies; his #1 sister, Kenzie Voorhies; his niece, Adline Voorhies; all his brother's and sister's friends that became his friends, his two dogs, Cowboy and Gunnar, who are always waiting for him to come through the door, and the cats that are bored as bored can be. He also had three aunties, two uncles, and Grandma that did not get near enough time with him.
He does now get to walk with three of his grandparents, a very dear friend, Ricky Graham, who was also taken in the fatality, and a kitten he loved so much, which helps a mom feel a little more at ease that he is not alone and is well taken care of.
A service to honor James' beautiful life will be held at 1 p.m. on March 1, 2025, at Garden City Funeral Home with a celebration of life to follow at the Flanagans Building at 1700 Stephens Avenue.
Though James is no longer in our arms, he will forever be in our hearts. His love and light will never fade. I can say with much pride that James truly was one cool kid, without a doubt.
