Pamela Spear Obituary

Pamela F Spear
1939 - 2024
Feeding Hills
We are saddened to announce the passing of our beautiful Mom, Pamela Frances Spear. She was born in Sheffield, England to Irene & Arthur Carriker. Her father was a US Army Intelligence officer, and due to his military career, Pam traveled a lot of the world during her school years. At 18, she married Richard Graydon in Canada and together they had three children, Steven, Michael and Christina. They moved to the states shortly after Chrissy was born. Pam was blessed with many loves. She married Joseph G. Plante after being set up by good friends. Joe was an amazing stepfather to her children. They were married 28 years until his passing in 1997. After being set up on another successful blind date, she married James R. Spear Jr in 2000 and had 22 wonderful years together until Jim's passing in 2022. Pam was a realtor for over 40 years and loved helping people find their dream home. She loved the beach & traveling. During her years with Jim and their deep involvement with The Shriners Hospital, they visited many areas in the US and abroad. She was a very busy woman! A member of the Pioneer Valley Shrine Club & Daughters of the Nile. She volunteered tirelessly for the original Melha "Feztival of Trees" and many Melha events. She was recently honored for her 27 years as President of the 104th Barnes Air National Guard Alumni Association, receiving accolades & praise from previous 104FW Commander, Ret. Major General Keefe and current 104FW Commander Colonel Halasi-Kun. Pam was a talented artist and would spend hours in her craft room creating beautiful hand painted items. Her husband Joe would cut wood shapes or slate in his workshop while Pam painted them, and together they participated in many craft fairs in the area. She was so talented & creative! She loved her two cats, Pumpkin and Tootsie. She & her daughter Chrissy loved having tag sales and could never drive by one without stopping. She created quite a legacy and will be missed so much by her loving family and countless friends. Pam is survived by her sister Lynn Scott (Erik), and her brother Michael Josling (Roz) from England. Her 3 children, Steven Graydon (JoAnn), Michael Graydon and Christina Graydon Gezotis (Curtis). Her stepchildren Robert Spear (Tess) & Melissa Spear. 14 grandchildren, Nicholas Gezotis (Kelsey), Christian Gezotis (Heather), Shaun Gezotis, Hannah Graydon, Joseph Graydon (Alexis), Ryan & Neal Swanfeldt, Nicole Fredette (Gary), Michael Graydon Jr (Nicole), Stephanie Neylon Van Aller (Ian), Michael & Michaela Neylon, Colby & Isabella Spear. Nine great grandchildren, Griffin & Graham Gezotis, Lilliana & Maverik Graydon, Hazel & Bryce Fredette, Emmett Swanfeldt and Steven & Amelia Van Aller. Calling hours will be Tuesday July 16, 4-7 pm at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St, Westfield, MA with a memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or the Westfield Homeless Cat Shelter, 1124 East Mountain Rd, Westfield, MA 01085.

Pam is my cousin. My mother was Arthur John's older sister. Aunt Irene, Linda, Pam and A. J. Visited my family one time, on our Illinois farm when she was a little girl. We were fascinated with her memory of England being bombed night and day during WWll. She said they were so used to the whistle bombs they would only run under the porch if the sound was close. My father was Louis Colonius. My oldest sister Marilou, and oldest brother Lamar, then Jim, Ruth, myself, Lynda, Darrell and Phillip. There were 8 of us. We loved Pam even though we only got to see her once. My younger sister Lynda and I are the only two still living. I'll be 90 soon. Irene was A. J''s English Rose. Sweet, Beautiful lady.

Chrissy,
It's been so long since you moved from Montgomery. All I can really remember is us standing in your driveway with those pink spongy rollers in our hair. I think it was for a dance recital.
And then in 2006, your mother waited in the cold for two hours at my Father's wake. She was so kind and considerate.
I am so sorry for your loss.
