1944 - 2023
Michael Corbin passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at theSan Francisco Campus for Jewish Living on November 27,2023 after a 13 year, courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Mike, the oldest son of the late Julia and Horace Corbin, grew up in South Hadley and attended local schools. He went on to earn a degree at Antioch College and attend Duke University graduate school before relocating to San Francisco with his wife Diana, (nee Dolgoff), Corbin. There, they spent many wonderful years living in the Bernal Heights neighborhood where they welcomed their 3 children.
Mike enjoyed a long career at the Golden Gate Park and Arboretum. He was involved in every phase of the creation of the Mesoamerican Cloud Forest, where he is pictured here. This unique, beautiful ecosystem is enjoyed by thousands yearly and will remain Michael's legacy in the years to come.
Mike was also a life long lover of music in every genre. He was proficient in playing a number of instruments and received great joy when playing music with family and friends over the years.
Mike is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diana of Fort Bragg, CA, son Jacob Corbin of Cheverly, CA, son Nicholas Corbin of San Francisco, daughter Emily Corbin of Portland, OR, brother John Corbin and his wife Aida of Subic Bay, Philippines, sister Hattie Finkel and her husband Steven of South Hadley, beloved grandchildren Walter, Mimi, Julia, and Claudia, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Susan Stevens. He is also survived by his beloved brother, Don Delos Corbin of San Francisco, who selflessly devoted himself to Michael's care over the many years.
A memorial service for Michael will be held in California at a future date.
