Shortly thereafter she left home and pursued a career as a pre-school teacher at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas; but ultimately returned to the paper city where she worked at National Blank Book Co for many years, prior to taking a position at the Mansir Holden Printing Co. as a floor supervisor for 15 years and ultimately retiring from PIP Printing in South Hadley after an additional 8years in the industry.
Geraldine also fulfilled her desire for public service by volunteering and held positions as the President of the American Legion Auxiliary-Post #438, Chaplain of the Chicopee Disabled American Veterans-Chapter #11, was a long standing and active member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #325 in Holyoke; and served as a member on the Council of Aging in both Holyoke and South Hadley. Geraldine was also a long time and beloved member of the Holyoke Towers community and enjoyed sharing her in-depth history of Holyoke; and routing for the New England Patriots.
Geraldine was predeceased by her husband Frederick F. Hines (1999), brother Howard Quesnel, as well as sisters Pearl Patrick and Eleanor Bargella; and leaves behind many family members to cherish her memory, which includes her sons, Frank L. Lawson of Holyoke, MA, Gerald F. Hines and his life partner Robin Nedjoika of West Springfield, MA. Her Daughters, Sharon Benoit of Custer, SD. Rose Mary Chimbers of NY. Geraldine also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 greatgreat grandchildren, who were all the love of her life.
