Ruth Turner Obituary

Ruth Turner Obituary Mrs. Ruth Evelyn Turner, 82, of Berlin Center, Ohio transitioned to eternal peace on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at her home. Her husband and family were at her side. Ruth was born August 15, 1941, in Rocky Mount, Virginia. She was a daughter of Richard E. and Edith Viola Davis Stowe. The Stowe family moved from Virginia to Youngstown, Ohio where Ruth eventually graduated in 1959 from East High School. After graduation, she married her "childhood sweetheart", Isaac Turner Jr., and the two began their journey of marital bliss, unending love, and family. Although she was a full-time mother in every sense of the meaning, she did find time to work part-time outside of the home as an Avon representative. Later, she worked at General Motors Lordstown retiring after 17 years of service. Ruth was a member of Believers Church – formerly Believers' Christian Fellowship where she (along with her husband) served as a Trustee and Prayer Room Counselor. She was also a former member of the N.A.A.C.P. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, shopping, interior decorating, floral crafts for her home, in-house gardening, cooking – she was an excellent cook, watching Christian television, and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. However, her greatest passion was spending time with her beloved husband and family creating momentous family dinners, wonderful holidays – especially Christmas, and nurturing all her family in love, and in the love for Jesus Christ! She leaves to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life and legacy, her husband, Isaac Turner Jr., whom she married January 16, 1960; two children, Cheryl A. (Jeffrey) Green of Canfield, Ohio, and Isaac Randall Turner Sr. of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren, LaChristian J. (Michael) Shannon of Charlotte, North Carolina, Isaac R. Turner Jr. and Darius A. Turner of Columbus, Ohio, and Arielle T. (Micah) Hall of North Canton, Ohio; a sister, Mary E. Bembry of Austintown, Ohio; a brother, Richard E. Stowe of Antelope, California; and a host of family and friends. Besides her parents and a beloved grandmother – Mary Ann Malachi Davis, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John Junious Stamps, Dorothy Mae Stamps, May Lois Davis, Edith Claudette Rogers, and Robert Landers Stowe. Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Rd., Youngstown, OH 44505.
