Lawrence Gilliam Obituary

WARREN – Lawrence T. Gilliam, age 75, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 6, 1948, in Warren, the son of Coleman Jr. and Ossie (Griffin) Gilliam. A graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Larry served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked at General Electric, was a truck driver, and owner of the Central Café. He was a dedicated member of the King Solomon Lodge #87 and enjoyed spending time with and teasing his family, traveling, grilling, playing drums, listening to jazz, and playing pool. Precious memories of Larry live on with his beloved wife of nearly seventeen years, Geraldine Kay (Robinson) Gilliam, whom he married July 17, 2007; two daughters, Denise Gilliam of Columbus, Ohio and Adina Baty (DeMarcus) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; four grandchildren: Nicole Gilliam (Cameron Change), Seirra, Syncere, and Armani Baty; three sisters: Mary Rush (James) of Houston, Tex., Patricia Gilliam of Warren, and Twila Gilliam-McNeal (Bishop Joseph) of Farrell, Pa.; and a host of nieces, nephews, god-children, and their families. Preceding him in death are his parents; five sisters: Shirley Gilliam, Sandra Hunter, Vivian Dixon, Ossie Dixon, and Helen Gilliam; and three brothers: Coleman, III., James, and William Gilliam. A memorial service will be held on May 25th at 2:00 pm at The Renaissance Center, 1948 Palmyra Road SW, Warren OH 44485.
