Margaret Roush
COLUMBUS - Margaret "Peg" Schuyler (Le Fevre) Roush, formerly of Kendallville, Indiana, and Sebring, Florida, passed away on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, in Columbus, Indiana.
She was born in Elsmere, New York, on Nov. 28, 1924, to Manfred W. and Dorothy (Marsh) Le Fevre. She graduated in 1942, from Bethlehem Central High School in Delmar, New York. She attended Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, from 1942-1945.
On Aug. 14, 1945, in Delmar, New York, Margaret married U.S. Navy Ensign Robert Murray Roush of Marion, Indiana. This turned out to be a memorable date: the day the Emperor of Japan surrendered, ending World War II. In May 1946, after Robert was discharged from the Navy with the rank of Lt. jg, the couple moved to Kendallville, where Dr. Roush started his Practice of Optometry. In 1993, the Roushes moved to Sebring, Florida, where they resided until June 2006. They returned to Indiana and became residents of Four Seasons Retirement Center in Columbus to be close to their daughter Leslie Smith, and other family members.
Mrs. Roush was a member of Gamma Phi Beta National Sorority and president of Beta Gamma chapter, Bowling Green State University; member of Tri Kappa Sorority, where she served as president of both active and Beta Associate Chapters, Kendallville, Indiana. In the early years Peg was a Cub Scout leader and then led a Girl Scout troop. She was active in the Noble County Red Cross Blood Program for several years, and an inactive member of Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Roush, along with her husband Bob, was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist (formerly First Methodist), Kendallville, singing in the Altar Choir for more than 40 years. She and her husband also were affiliate members of the Spring Lake Presbyterian Church in Sebring, Florida.
Peg was a "stay at home mom" and homemaker.
Surviving are three daughters, Leslie Jeanne (Richard Fielding) Smith, of Columbus, Marsha (William E. III) Lee Cornelius, of Woodstock, Georgia, and Deborah Kay Kautza, of Kendallville; two sons, Dr. Richard Schuyler (Joyce Conner) Roush, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Dr. Robert Alan (Jane Ann) Roush, of Kendallville.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Julia Roush McKinney, of Louisville, David (Caroline) Roush, of Philadelphia, Dr. Eric (Dr. Kelly) Roush, Portland, Maine, Michelle (Mark) Ziegler, of Columbus, Retired SMSgt. USAF Ryan (Ryanne) Smith, of Columbus, Kyle Smith, of Columbus, William IV Cornelius and Taylor Cornelius, of Atlanta; Lt. Cmdr. USN JAG Reserve Matthew (Katherine) Roush, of Minneapolis, and Dr. Elizabeth (Dr. Craig) Lichlyter, of Kendallville; also twelve great-grandchildren, Kathrine Barker (Zach) Flinn, Cameron Ziegler and Morgan Ziegler, Cadence Smith and Adleigh Smith, twins Andrew and Anthony McKinney, Charles Robert Roush and Eloise Roush, Emma Christine Roush and Robert Davis Roush, Avery Elizabeth Lichlyter and Madilyn Lee Lichlyter; and great-great-grandsons, Owen Jeffrey Flinn and Harrison Ryan Flinn.
Peg was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert "Bob", in 2012; one sister, Jeanne Sutch, of Amsterdam, New York; and one brother, Daniel P. Le Fevre, of Aberdeen, Maryland.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at Four Seasons Retirement Community Chapel, Columbus, Indiana, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Church United Methodist, Kendallville, Indiana, Four Seasons Retirement Chapel, Columbus, or Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana.

I remember your mother well. Such a lovely lady. She would often drive a car load of us to Pretty Lake in your awesome open air jeep. I´m so sorry for your loss.
