Loretta Mulloy Obituary

Loretta Mulloy

February 13, 1926 - July 23, 2025

Lexington, Kentucky - Loretta Mulloy, a beacon of kindness and love, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, in Lexington, KY. Born on February 13, 1926, in Ashland, KY, Loretta's life was a testament to the virtues of family, faith, and hospitality. She was the beloved matriarch of a large and adoring family and a friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Preceded in death by her devoted parents, Nora and Joseph Mantle, and her cherished husband of 44 years, Louis Tweedie Mulloy, Loretta's legacy of love continues through her four children, Pam (David) Shearer, Louis (Jasie) Mulloy, Liz (Coke) Williams, and Mary (Doug) Brent. Her five grandchildren, David, Clay, Elizabeth, Hunter, and Caroline, along with her seven great-grandchildren, will forever cherish the memories of their time with her.

Raised as the youngest of seven children in a home where love and laughter were the foundations of life, Loretta's upbringing instilled in her the values that would define her character. She attended Holy Family Catholic School, where her faith and sense of community were nurtured. Loretta furthered her education at the University of Kentucky, where she formed lifelong friendships and prepared for a future filled with purpose and generosity.

Loretta's deep Roman Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and she was a devout member of Christ the King Cathedral. Her involvement was marked by the same passion and commitment she dedicated to her family and faith.

Those who knew Loretta will remember her unmatched hospitality, always ready with her famous chicken salad and a welcoming smile. She loved assisting her husband, Tweedie, with the culinary creations he prepared, and together they were the embodiment of charm and southern hospitality.

Loretta's kindness was felt by everyone she met, and her loving nature made her a treasured friend. She was a woman who not only spoke of values but lived them every day, touching countless lives with her warm heart and gentle spirit. "When God handed out patience, He gave it all to her," a dear neighbor recently expressed.

As we bid farewell to Loretta Mulloy, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by an unending capacity to give and love. Her memory will be carried on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and her influence will continue to be felt through the many lives she touched. Loretta's life was a beautiful journey that inspired all, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

Visitation will be at Cathedral of Christ the King on Wednesday July 30, 2025 from 10:30 AM- 12:00 PM. Mass will begin at noon followed by a reception. Committal services will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
