Monica Schaal Obituary
March 3, 1951 - September 22, 2023
Waikoloa, Hawaii - Born and raised in Independence, MO, Monica's independent spirit was true to her birthplace. She explored life through many adventures and careers, living on a sailboat in the Caribbean, taking a role as a Playboy Bunny in Kansas City, transitioning to banking for 9 years, then a successful interior designer for 12 years.
Quick to laugh, Monica was fun to be around and took the positive spin on life. She always had a beloved shepherd or kitty at her side. Monica married the love of her life, Paul Schaal, former Kansas City Royals 3rd baseman in 1986, and joined him in his chiropractic clinic. Many friends and years later, they moved to Waikoloa HI in 2010, to enjoy the tropical life.
She used her healing gifts to help others, working with Paul in their Schaal Health & Wellness center in Waikoloa, as a practitioner in alternative and holistic healing methods, until Paul succumbed to cancer in 2017, and Monica was diagnosed with Alzheimer's too young in life. Moving to Idaho in 2018, Monica died in memory care in Sept 22, 2023. She is predeceased by her parents, Bill and Fern Hendrickson.

Monica was a very dear friend. I worked for Paul and Monica in 2002 and through the years until they moved to Hawaii. We remained close until Paul passed away and Monica's illness advanced. They are both missed and their friendship will always be treasured.

We're so sorry to hear about Monica's passing. Although we lost touch many years ago, she's been in my heart for years. We worked together in banking in the early 1980's. She was such a kind soul and such a wonderful lady. She was my Matron of Honor at our wedding in 1987. Many fond memories. Rest in peace. Robin & Bill Johnson
