LOUISE REEVES Obituary

REEVES LOUISE MCCLAIN A native of Mauricetown, NJ, passed away on October 18, 2023. She was born and raised in the quaint, former sea captain's town of Mauricetown, where she shared her childhood with her pre-deceased parents, Joseph and Irene Reeves, her beloved sister Irene and her brother Joseph. Lousie cherisher her early years, fondly reminiscing about the adventures she had with her family on the river, and was blessed with 4 grandparents, 10 aunts and uncles and 19 cousins living in the community during her youth. A determined and hardworking young woman, Louise embarked on her journey after high school, with her first job at Sunray Drugs. but, her true passion lay in the world of art and design. She pursued her dreams by graduating from the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, eventually becoming an adjunct professor there, dedicating two decades to nurturing the talent of young artists. For over fifty years, Louise excelled in the field of retail advertising, serving as a layout artist for John Wanamaker CO. Her creative skills were showcased through countless sketches, with a special emphasis on her remarkable fashion designs. But her artistic talents extended beyond the realm of fashion. Louise had a profound affection for her feline companion and channeled her love for cats (especially for Sammy, her last cat) into a captivating collage of cat drawings, leaving a lasting legacy in the form of prints available on the internet. Louise's life was enriched by the friendships she cultivated over the years. Her home in the Westbury Apartments in Center City Philadelphia became a hub for companionship, where she shared countless memories with her dear friends. Lousie was also devoted member of Tenth Presbyterian Church, where she found solace and camaraderie. Her Christian faith was evident to those who knew her and was her source of strength to the very end of her life. A Viewing will be held at the Tenth Presbyterian Church, 17th and Spruce St., Philadelphia on October 26, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. followed by a her Funeral Service which will be held at 11:00 A.M., immediately thereafter, by a luncheon celebration of life for family and friends. I met Louise though a friend of mine named Inga. She was like a second mother to me, always kind comforting and sharing. I just found out about her passing today. I will miss her dearly, but heaven has a new angel.
