Donald J. Cox Obituary

Cox Donald J. Age 90, a former Ewing, NJ, councilman passed away peacefully on Sunday night, October 22, 2023, hand held by his devoted family. Don a Ewing native graduated from Trenton Central HS in 1951 and found his stride at Temple University. He served and led in numerous student orgs forging his lifelong bond with Temple Owls and Sigma Pi Fraternity (eventually leading as International President). As a Lt. in the U.S. Army Don was stationed first in Greenland and later in NY as a General's Aide. He began his career at GM but quickly founded Tailored Tours. He later had a distinguished career in education and finance, but Don's passion was community service especially the Ewing Kiwanis and youth leadership. Don founded the Kiwanis' NJ Youth Leadership Institute serving 10 yrs. as NJ's Key Club and Circle K Administrator. He received the CIRCLE OF SERVICE award by Circle K Int'l an award now known in NJ as the "Donald J. Cox Circle of Service Award." As beloved figures Don and his deceased wife Violet both left a lasting impact in Ewing where they each served terms on the Ewing Twp. Council and far beyond. Don is survived by his son Donald J. Cox, Jr., and his wife Sara, daughter Beth Bauer, and her husband Albert, and 3 grandsons James Cox, Alex Bauer and Matthew Cox. Viewing services will be held at the WILSON-APPLE FUNERAL HOME IN PENNINGTON, NJ (www.wilson apple.com) on October 27 and 28, 2023, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation-St. James RC Church followed by entombment at Ewing Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations are welcomed so Don's legacy of service will continue to inspire.
