Viola Linus Kestner Williams

April 8, 1928 - December 9, 2023

On Saturday morning December 9th, 2023, Viola Linus Kestner Williams of Bristol, TN passed on to her heavenly home at age 95 years and eight months. She was born on April 8, 1928 in Russell County, VA, the daughter of Reverend Martin Luther Kestner and Mary Ann McFaddin Kestner. She was one of 11 children and had a simple but very happy childhood in the hills of Hayters Gap where they lived.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband H.C. Williams and all her brothers and sisters she loved so much. Other than her two daughters, she is survived by several beloved nieces and nephews. Viola put her family first and foremost in her earthly life and was adored by her two daughters, Beverly Williams Massengill Campbell of Abingdon, VA, and Monte Williams Rollins and her husband James of the home.

She was a funny and fun loving, caring and beautiful lady who loved music and dancing. You may have seen her dancing in her wheelchair on summer nights at the Music at the Mural in Bristol. This, she said, made her feel healthy and helped her stay young at heart. Her soul was filled with the joy of the Lord, her favorite scripture being Phillipians 4 verse 13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". Viola was a very strong, courageous woman as she navigated the ups and down of her long life, always staying true to her Lord and herself. She will be so very, very missed by her daughters and all who knew her. To honor Mrs. Williams' beautiful life, no flowers or donations are requested.

At her daughter's suggestion, take some extra time to visit the elderly. That generation is priceless. At Mrs. Williams request, services will be private at Glenwood Cemetery.
