Janet Mitchell Obituary
JANET KAY BROWNING MITCHELL, 64, of Huntington, WV, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington.
She was born June 20, 1959 in Huntington, WV a daughter of Margie Birtcher Browning of Huntington and the late Raymond Lester "Ray" Browning.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Charles Mitchell III. She retired from the Cabell County Board of Education and was a 1977 graduate of Huntington East High School. Janet sang with Renaissance and the Golden Girls.
Survivors include: a daughter, Jodi DeHart Estep (Joey) of Huntington; a son, Jay DeHart (Colleen) of Arlington Heights, IL; three grandchildren, Khloe Estep, Jackson DeHart, and Parker DeHart; two sisters, Dianna Lynn Wyatt (Eddie) of Asheville, NC and Teresa Ann Ray (David) of Huntington; a brother, Raymond Lester Browning II (Melinda) of Brookville, IN; the father of her children, Joe DeHart of Huntington; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Vann (Ryan), Amy Joyce (Mark), Ryan Ray (Kristy), Jeremy Ray (Teresa), Bradley Ray, Natalie Browning, Austin Browning, and Makayla Browning; and several great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Harry Mullins and Pastor Jimmy Davey officiating. Visitation will be from Noon to 2 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jodi's Brobes Fundraiser in support of gifts for Huntington breast cancer patients, a cause that was dear to Janet.

Jodi and Jay, I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet mom. We had known each other for years but especially reconnected while singing in Renaissance together a few years ago. I always loved to hear Janet´s beautiful soprano voice. She was a beautiful person as well.
