Celebrating THE LIFE OF ELMA December 15, 1931 - September 27, 2023 Elma passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 27, 2023. Formerly known as Itamura, Ida, and Saida. Born in Hilo to David and Edith Itamura she was raised in Honolulu until 1954, where at age 22 she set out for San Francisco. She went on to reside in Monterey, Los Angeles, Kansas, Tokyo and ultimately back to Honolulu. Elma was a proud 1949 Kaimuki Bulldog. She retired as the owner of Hairoshima hair salon and Hawaiian boutique Three Doors Down, in Los Angeles, the first local kine crackseed store on the mainland. Elma was preceded in death by her sisters, Nora Vios, Las Vegas and Edith Leong, Torrance California. She is survived by sons Micheal Ida (Inez), Mark Ida, grandson Max Ida (Haruka), great grand sons Aaron and Luke and the angel she lovingly referred to as "The Favorite", Kendra Inoue. Service to be held at Nuuanu Memorial Park on Saturday November 18, 2023. Visitation 10:30am with service to begin at 11:30am. Casual attire, no flowers. Ashes to be scattered at a later date.
