Jill Summers Obituary

Summers, Jill Nelson

September 20, 1962 - October 6, 2023

Jill Elizabeth Nelson Summers passed away at her home in Summerfield on Friday October 6, 2023, following several years of declining health. She was born September 20, 1962, to Elizabeth Williams McNeill and Jerry Van Nelson.

Jill was a lifelong resident of Summerfield and a 1980 graduate of Northwest Guilford High School. After graduating she worked at Deluxe Check Printing. In 1985 she married her husband of 38 years, Jack, and they were blessed with one daughter, Jeffy. Jill was able to be a stay-at-home mom while assisting in their businesses, Summers Fencing and Fairy Tale Farm. She considered Jeffy to be her greatest accomplishment and was delighted that she shared her passion for horses. Jill was a member of Center United Methodist Church. One of her greatest joys was singing in the choir, until her lung health prevented it.

Jill is survived by her husband, Jack W. Summers, Jr. and daughter Jeffy Catherine Summers; her mother, Elizabeth W. McNeill; sister Ivy Jane Nelson Simmons and her husband, Mitch; several nieces and nephews, and a group of faithful friends. She was predeceased by her father, Jerry Van Nelson and brother, Jeffrey Van Nelson.

A celebration of Jill's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Center United Methodist Church, 6142 Lake Brandt Road, Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Memorials may be made to Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center, 6825 Rolling View Drive, Tobaccoville, NC 27050.

Jill was a great horsewoman. I enjoyed many years riding at their beautiful Fairytale Farm. She was always kind and will be missed greatly. Adele, Gary and "Darla"
