Marie Bluth Obituary

Marie Bluth

1961 - 2023

- It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marie Boyer Bluth on October 6th, 2023. She was 62 years of age.

Marie was born on April 16th, 1961, to her parents Ken and Bonnie Boyer in Redwood City, California. She met her husband, Marcel Bluth, while serving a mission in Spain, and the two were wed on December 15th, 1984. They had two boys, Joshua Marcel and Zachary Daniel Bluth.

Over the course of her life, she pursued and succeeded in many professions. She started in the San Francisco Bay Area as a secretary for an engineering firm, and then worked as staff support for a chiropractic school as well as Runner's World magazine during its early years. She moved to Utah and went on to work as a customer service representative for an insurance company before becoming a commercial real estate agent in Utah. Marie was one of the first two female candidates to attain a commercial real estate license in the state. After starting her family in the Salt Lake Valley, she began a small business working out of her house while adjunct teaching a philosophy class at the local community college. She went back to school and received a certification to work as a health unit coordinator. She worked at LDS Hospital in the foothills of Salt Lake City and then worked for a hospital in Annapolis, Maryland. She finished her career as a paralegal at a law firm in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Marie had many hobbies. From the time she was a child, she was a voracious reader. She would take books up into the family apricot tree to eat and read for hours. She parlayed this passion into an insatiable pursuit of knowledge in the spiritual, political, philosophical, and practical. She found satisfaction in turning a house into a home. Whenever possible, she would plant a new tree to bring new life into her family's circle and future beauty and comfort for all those that would follow.

Despite her various careers, hobbies, and life experiences, the family that Marie built with her husband and children was the most meaningful part of her life, dwarfing all other accomplishments and accolades. The only titles she would accept were loving wife and caring mother.

She is survived by her husband, Marcel, her sons, Joshua and Zachary, her siblings, Terrie Coleman, Mike Boyer, and Jim Boyer and her two granddaughters, Eva Lynne and Scarlet Dye. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother Bobby.

A private viewing will be held on Friday October 13th, 2023, at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary located at 4760 South State Street, Murray, UT 84107. A graveside service will be held that same day shortly after. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held for all friends and family on Saturday October 14th, 2023, at 11:00 am at 12242 South 2700 West, Riverton, Utah. A reception will take place immediately following the Saturday service.

She liked to be called Re and she liked to call me Terr. Nobody else has ever called me Terr, so I guess I'll never hear that again! I'll miss that! I should have been with you when you passed but I wasn't. I didn't know you were leaving us so soon. So I´m glad that your beloved husband, Marcel and your dear sons, Josh and Zach were with you. You were loved by many and we will miss you!
