Daniel M. Massey
Daniel Martin Massey, age 72, of Milford, passed away at his home on September 27, 2023. "Danny Martin," as his friends and family affectionately called him, was born in Bridgeport, CT, on October 5, 1950. He was predeceased by his loving parents; father, Dr. Daniel Mario Massey and mother, Alberta "Elma" Ogorevc Massey. Dan lived the majority of his life in Milford, CT, and attended St Ann's Elementary School, The University School, and Housatonic Community College. A career public servant, Dan worked originally as an EMT and then started in Security at Bridgeport Jai Ali. In September of 1987, Dan went on to work for the CT State Troopers division, starting as a dispatcher and then becoming a trainer for dispatchers. His mentor described him as highly "valuable" and never left a job until it was done right. He took great pride in his work and was beloved and respected by his colleagues. Dan retired in 2018, after 30 plus years on the job. In his personal life, Dan was a wonderful son, especially as his parents aged and truly needed him. As a cousin, he was noted to be the first to arrive at a family party and had an infectious laugh and funny comments to bring joy to any occasion. Dan had a great many friends with whom he loved to travel and go see shows on Broadway and at the Shubert Theater in New Haven. Dan is survived by many close friends and cousins, including Mario Mauriello (John McMillen), Jodi Dawley (Matthew Dawley), Karen Berwick (Mary Schneider), Daniel Massey, (Judy Somo Massey), Paula DeStefano, Joan Diorio Perot. On Saturday, October 28, friends and family are invited to attend Dan's Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated in St. Ann Church, 501 Naugatuck Ave., Milford. His burial will be privately held. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., have been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
