Susan Marie Grey, 67, of Duryea, passed away at home on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023.
Born May 23, 1956, in Pittston, she was the daughter of John "Blackie" and Mary "Molly" Akulonis. She graduated from Pittston Area High School and was a longtime employee of Topps Bazooka, and a member of Teamsters 229; she also worked at Leslie Fay.
She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, Pittston, and a devoted attendee of the St. Jude Novena.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Robert Grey; godson, James Spencer; and three pets, Stormy, Lola and Norman .
Surviving are a beloved son, John Paul and wife, Kathleen; a grandson, Max; two sisters, Barbara Spencer and Cathy Yablonski and husband, Ed; a brother, John Akulonis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
From the moment she became an aunt to her nieces and nephews, to when her son was born, and when ultimately the light of her life came into the world, her grandson, Max, Suzie had the ability to bring a smile and a gut-busting giggle to any kid she encountered ... and they will all carry that memory with them for life.
The funeral will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated for Susan and her husband, Paul, at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main St., Pittston. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
