Linda Minnie Pellam McDermott, 68, of Edwardsville, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
She was born in Beaumont, Feb. 16, 1955, to her late parents, Charles A. Pellam and Edith L. Krause Pellam.
Linda attended Wyoming Valley West High School, and worked hard at a variety of jobs, with her favorite being making donuts.
However, her most important and rewarding job was that of being a mother. She always put her children and other loved ones before herself. The role of caretaker just came naturally to her, and she was amazing at it. When she treated herself to some free time, she liked watching TV and putting together complicated puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark McDermott; sisters, Barbara DeArmitt, Dorothy Gruver, Betty Green, Shirley Minckler, Elizabeth Klein and Peggy Strohl; and brothers John, Charles Jr. and Robert Pellam.
Surviving are her life partner of over 30 years, Kenneth Piskorik, Edwardsville; daughters, Billy Jo McDermott, Tunkhannock; and Jamie McDermott, Edwardsville; son, Jody McDermott, Tunkhannock; she took on the mother role for grandchildren, Desiree Pollick; James and Destiny McDermott; other beloved grandchildren include Ivi, Armoni and Jude McDermott; Isaac Ellsworth; Henry McDermott; great-grandson, Declan McDermott; former husband, William McDermott, Tunkhannock; and many nieces and nephews.
Linda's memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday from Hugh B. Hughes & Son Funeral Home Inc., 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, officiated by the Rev. James Quinn. Family and friends may call to give their condolences from 5 p.m. to service time.
