Evelyn Warren Obituary

Evelyn Virginia Waters Warren, 104, died Feb. 19, 2026. Memorial services will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, in the Blackburn Ballroom at Northwest Square, 238 W. Clara Ave., DeLand, with her great-nephew Jon Hunnell officiating.
A former executive vice president of a national trade association headquartered in Washington, D.C., Evelyn was born May 29, 1921, at Lock No. 9 along the Monongahela River near Morgantown, West Virginia.
Evelyn was preceded in death by husband, William A. Warren; two sisters, Alice Waters of Morgantown and Dorothy Hunnell of Euclid, Ohio; as well as her nephew, Daniel Hunnell (Debra) of Euclid. Survivors include stepson Arthur Warren (Mary) of Daytona Beach Shores; nephew David Hunnell (Kathy) of Norman, Oklahoma; niece Deborah Konrad (Steve) of Port Orange; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and many amazing and treasured friends.
Evelyn was a devoted mariner officer's wife, highlighted by the challenges of long separations, and several moves due to the Military Sea Transportation Service. Following his retirement, the couple traveled extensively to all 50 states, Canada, Europe and the Far East.
Retirement to Evelyn meant volunteering. Known for her kindness, gentle manner and remarkable sympathy, she esteemed it a privilege to be an active longtime member and former leader of the Woman's Club of DeLand. She lived her life with respect, consideration and caring courtesy for others as a volunteer at The Neighborhood Center. She served as a past president of the Association for Widowed Persons, was an honorary life member of the Active & Retired Federal Employees Association, as well as an active and contributing member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
