We always enjoyed the tall tales when we went over to visit my godfather Mike Scott and went up to miss some clays at the quarry. He was the best teacher ever and we so enjoyed those times. He shall be missed.

John was a massive character to so many of us in the shooting community. I used to love my time on his shooting range, popping in for a round after dropping the kids at school. He fuelled my love of the sport and always knew how far to push you to achieve the best results. There was always a cup of tea, a biscuit, a hearty chat and a laugh. He was such a lovely man, warm, kind and funny and so lucky to have his sister to look after him in his latter years. I will miss him every time I pass through Santon. Such lovely times

"So you´re a cousin of John Quilliam?" Someone asked.
Yes.
"That´s the John Quilliam who had the shooting range?"
Yes again.
"Oh! He´d do a good turn for anyone without expecting anything in return".
