Very sad to hear about the passing of Stephen. I too served with Stephen affectionately known as 'Tex'. To Stephen's family and loved ones -so sorry for none of us Army lads being there to represent a part of his life and pay our respects. It's sad we drifted apart and never kept in touch. Over the last few days many of the lads have reconnected and have been remeniscing about 'Tex' and how much of a good bugger he was. The stories were classic 'Tex'. He had the smelliest feet, and untidiest room out of all of us - but the kindest heart and genuine comedian that loved and lived life hard packing in as much as he could. The last time I saw him was at the Wellington 7s and it was the best day out with that lad ever. The world has truly lost one of the good guys. Rest in peace my friend.

I was saddened to hear the loss of Stephen, I served in the Army with him as we did our apprenticeship together. Myself and the rest of his Army colleagues, both past and present are mourning the loss of our mate "Tex" and remembering the good times with such a great bloke. Vale my friend.

I was really saddened to hear this news having been great friends at high school and sadly having lost touch with Steve many years ago after moving overseas. It had unfortunately been over 15 years since I saw him, last having seen him briefly in London, but I have so many fond memories of our teenage years and it was a privilege to have once called Steve a dear friend. Huge condolences to his loved ones. Leyla x
