Shirley ELGAR Obituary

Peacefully and without suffering at the Avenues MetLife care home, Tauranga, where Shirley has received loving care for the final chapter of her life. Aged 98 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Ian Elgar and a much loved mother of Lyn and Charlie Griffiths, Julie and Russell Hulbert, Sue and John Cliff, and Paula and Arthur Twyford. Loved Nana and Nandi of 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. A lovely soul at rest. As per Shirley's request a private farewell will be held. To all the Elgar family,
I have fond memories of a very special Standard 1 teacher at Patea Primary and of the friendship both your Mum and Dad shared with my Mum and Dad (Joan and Joe Laird). My condolences to you all, she was a lovely lady and a great teacher.

Shirley was a special person in our lives as this talented sang at our wedding some 64 years ago. She enjoyed her singing which was one of her talents. We enjoyed our visits to her home at The Green when we caught up on family news. Much love to all the family from Neil and Jocelyn Elgar
