An open letter to you, Shannon.
Weeks ago, I woke up to the most extradoniary rainbow. I was just in awe of its beauty, I had never seen one so complete before. I took a photo so I wouldn't forget it. As quickly as it formed, it was gone. I could have never imagined that later that day I would hear that you no longer were with us.
I often think about all the conversations we will never get to have and all the ones I wish we had. But I try and remind myself of all the moments we did get to share.
I will always cherish our shared fascination for crime, the recipes we swapped, the nights out and the nights in, the look you gave me when Koda ran out in front of your motorbike, when we lost track of time sunbathing in the sun and couldn't sit down for a week and that really long walk along the beach at Kuaotunu. I like to think I got to know you on that walk.
I am not a religious or spirtiual person but I always find comfort in my favourite quote... "What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly." Although you will live on forever young, while we all grow old... when I see a rainbow I will think of you.

it was a leisure to work with you at Taupo Work and Income for the years you were there and the laughter we shared. I was so proud of you after all your training and commitment to finally hear that you had been accepted to the Police Force. I´m sure you changed many lives while you were in the Police force. Rest In Peace Shannon xxx

Forever in my thoughts Shazza. Will never forget your trip to the US a few years ago and our night out in Huntington and your first ever In and Out experience. See you on the other side girl. Enjoy some In and Outs and will see you again one day! xxx

Shannon was a well cherished member of our emergency service Whanau. She helped many in our local community. She was also a laugh out of work.
