Ron passed away suddenly on 17th September 2024, aged 73 years. He was a renowned engineer and educator who worked all over the world, including many years working for the United Nations. He was the son of the late Laurence and Lorna McDowall of Hamilton and brother to the late Rex. Devoted and proud dad and father-in-law to Scott & Toni, Andrew & Emma, Sarah, James and Sushan. Special Poppa to his 9 grandchildren Madeleine, Chris, Liam and Theo Walker. Amelie, Niamh, Tobin, Mark and Sofia McDowall. Husband of Lynda and son-in-law of Lorna and the late Lou Clauson. No flowers please. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favourite humanitarian charity. A service to celebrate Ron's life will be at Bracu, 49 Main Road, Bombay, on Friday 27th September at 1.00pm. This service will be live-streamed and the link available at www.fountainsfunerals.co.nz.

My condolences to Ron's family and friends. I had the privilege to work with him on several projects all over the world. Each experience was a story by itself. Ron's presence, advice, knowledge and expertise were often key in finding and providing solutions to complex hazardous waste issues. Besides being a true professional, Ron was an extraordinary wise and warm man. "I could cry and feel empty or do what he would wanted us to do : smile, shine, love and move forward." Hi I feel so sad hearing this news as well as the passing of Rex. When I was young our family was close...from my Brownies days to when I live with the McDowells when I started my first job in Hamilton.... so many enjoyable memories of them all including Rob & Rex grandmother. Lynda I even have lovrlymemories of your Mum and Dad as a girl I had a holiday at your home at Drury.
